Baku hosts First Congress of Oncologists of the Union of Turkic-Speaking States

On June 13, the First Congress of Oncologists of the Union of Turkic-Speaking States commenced in Baku.
Organized by the National Center of Oncology of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the event aims to strengthen scientific cooperation between oncologists from Turkic-speaking countries.
The Congress began with a minute of silence in honor of the cherished memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs who gave their lives for the territorial integrity of the country, followed by the playing of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Academician Jamil Aliyev, Director General of Azerbaijan’s National Center of Oncology, officially declared the Congress open.
Academician Jamil Aliyev welcomed the congress participants and provided information about the necessity and goals of holding the international event. He wished the Congress every success and expressed confidence that its results would bring cooperation in the field of oncology one step closer.
Farah Aliyeva, Head of the Department of Humanitarian Policy, Diaspora, Multiculturalism and Religious Issues of the Presidential Administration, read out the congratulatory letter of President Ilham Aliyev to the event participants.
The two-day Congress brings together scientists, experts and officials from 10 countries around the world, including Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, the United States, Germany, Tajikistan and Georgia, along with local and international organizations.
Additionally, the Congress, marking the first event of its kind to take place in Azerbaijan, will include the signing of a memorandum on scientific cooperation in the field of oncology among Turkic-speaking states.
Participants will attend lectures and presentations on topics such as the treatment and prevention of head and neck tumors, thoracic oncology, breast cancer, and other related areas.
The First Congress of Oncologists of the Union of Turkic-Speaking States will serve as an important platform for discussing the organization of oncology services in the participating countries, exchanging experience and knowledge, and developing joint solutions to the current problems of oncology.
The event will also focus on topics related to clinical oncology, with in-depth discussions on the diagnosis and treatment of oncological diseases.
The Congress will conclude on June 14.
