Centre for Strategic Studies hosts discussions on “Beyond the resource curse” book
Baku, February 24 (AZERTAC). The book “Beyond The Resource Curse” edited by Brenda Shaffer and Taleh Ziyadov was discussed at the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of Azerbaijan.
The book narrates on the relationship between natural resources, economic security and problems oil and gas exporters face and their solution.
SAM Deputy Director Gulshan Pashayeva highlighted the academic importance of the publication and hailed the activity of researchers.
Azerbaijan is a unique resource exporting nation.
Brenda Shaffer underlined the role of natural resources on the development of the economy. She stressed that Azerbaijan has rich development history, etnocultural diversity, traditions of co-existence of religions and peoples.
The event continued with discussion by Taleh Ziyadov and ADA professor Elnur Soltanov.
Dr. Brenda Shaffer is Senior Lecturer in the School of Political Science at the University of Haifa and Visiting Professor at the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy (ADA). Taleh Ziyadov is Research Fellow at the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy and Ph.D. candidate at the University of Cambridge, UK.
