Chairman of Caucasus Muslims' Board meets with High Representative for UN Alliance of Civilizations

As part of his visit to Kazakhstan to attend the 8th Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade, Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims' Board (CMB), met with Miguel Ángel Moratinos, High Representative for the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC).
During the meeting, the parties hailed the high level of cooperation between the UN Alliance of Civilizations, the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the Caucasus Muslims' Board. It was noted that the UNAOC actively participates in events hosted by Azerbaijan and supports the initiatives put forward by the country in the field of interfaith and intercivilizational dialogue and cooperation.
Miguel Ángel Moratinos expressed deep gratitude to the Chairman of the CMB for his active participation in the 10th UNAOC Global Forum in Cascais and the commemorative event in Guernica, and noted that he looked forward to Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade’s active participation in the Alliance’s upcoming events.
The UN official stressed that Azerbaijan has successfully hosted major interfaith forums, recalling his own mandate in combating Islamophobia. He acknowledged Azerbaijan's active role in this field and shared ideas about organizing joint conferences in the future.
Moratinos highlighted Azerbaijan's multiculturalism model, emphasizing its significance for the international community in promoting interfaith tolerance and mutual understanding, and underscored the importance of its continued promotion.
The meeting was attended by Ravan Hasanov, Executive Director of the Baku International Multiculturalism Center.
