The “COP29 and COP30 Youth Climate Representatives SB62" panel held as part of the Bonn June Climate Meetings featured discussions on the “Global Framework on Children, Youth, Peace and Climate Security”.
The high-level event was co-organized by the COP29 and COP30 Presidencies as part of the SB62 Bonn Climate Conference.
The aim of the event was to facilitate an exchange of views on the Global Framework on Children, Youth, Peace and Climate Security.
The roundtable was attended by Yalchin Rafiyev, Deputy Foreign Minister and COP29 Lead Negotiator along with Leyla Hasanova, COP29 Youth Climate Champion and Marcele Oliveira, Brazil’s COP30 Youth Climate Champion.
Addressing the event, Yalchin Rafiyev described young people as key contributors enriching this process.
“The process of preparing a global framework document, which was initiated by our friends in Dubai during COP28, was further expanded by us during COP29, and we have taken initiatives in this direction. During our hosting of COP29, the conference held in Baku, we organized a series of events with the specific goal of incorporating the perspectives and ideas of young people into the development of this document. Youth are a source of useful, result-oriented ideas and initiatives in this process,” Yalchin Rafiyev added.
