Counselor of Permanent Mission of Azerbaijan to UN calls to obey UN rules
Baku, August 27 (AZERTAC). “Azerbaijan suffered from war and is in close proximity to other conflicts. The country is committed to peace in the region and contributed to activities of the forces supporting the goals of the UN,” Counselor of the Permanent Mission of Azerbaijan to the United Nations Yusuf Mammadaliyev said during debates on United Nations peacekeeping operations.
Mammadaliyev underlined the necessity to obey UN charter, in particular, state sovereignty.
“Thereupon, particular emphasis should be put on the issues of international humanitarian law and human rights,” he said.
Mammadaliyev favored close cooperation and dialogue between all contributors to peacekeeping operations with more active participation of countries with military and police contingent.
