Court examines secret order by Armenia's largest military unit to shell Azerbaijani settlements

Baku, June 19, AZERTAC
On June 19, the Baku Military Court examined a secret document signed by Kamo Vardanyan, “Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army” of the so-called regime’s largest military unit.
Document No. 0671, signed on September 25, 2020, is titled “Order on the Authorization of the Destruction of Enemy Settlements by Fire.” The document ordered the commanders of formations and military units to ensure that the settlements listed in the annex were designated for destruction by fire by September 28, 2020. It instructed them to calculate firing positions and to fully compile and complete the combat deployment documents.
The document prescribed that a specific M-21 station be allocated to artillery units for launching missiles capable of striking targets at distances of up to 40 kilometers. “Of the 80 missiles designated for this station, 40 are to be kept on vehicles in constant combat readiness, while the remaining 40 are to be loaded before moving into firing positions.”
The execution of the order was entrusted to the “Deputy Commander of the Army for Artillery.”
The order also included a “list of settlements to be destroyed by fire.” The list contained the names of approximately 70 settlements in Azerbaijan, including the cities of Ganja, Mingachevir, Naftalan, as well as the districts and villages of Beylagan, Aghjabadi, Yevlakh, and Barda.
The trial of citizens of the Republic of Armenia, accused of numerous grave crimes – including aggression, preparation and conduct of aggressive war, genocide, violations of the laws and customs of war, terrorism, financing of terrorism, violent seizure and retention of power, and other serious offenses – will continue on June 20. These charges stem from Armenia’s military aggression and encompass crimes against peace and humanity, as well as war crimes.
