The All-Ukrainian Forum of National Minorities and Indigenous Peoples of Ukraine, titled "Everyone has their own voice, but we have one heart," was held in Kyiv.
Representatives of the United Congress of Ukrainian Azerbaijanis and the Rada of Ukrainian Azerbaijanis attended the “Day of Interethnic Harmony and Cultural Diversity,” celebrated for the first time at the national level in Ukraine. This holiday was established by the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated December 27, 2024, to recognize the unique value of each national community and indigenous people who have enriched Ukraine’s common culture for centuries.
More than 300 participants gathered in the capital, including representatives of national minorities and indigenous peoples, government officials, diplomats, international partners, and public figures.
Speaking at the event, Oleksandr Korniienko, First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, highlighted the importance of national communities' contributions to the shared Ukrainian heritage. He emphasized that by celebrating the Day of Interethnic Harmony and Cultural Diversity for the first time, Ukraine honors the unique contribution of each community to its cultural heritage. “The strength of Ukraine lies in our unity – here everyone has their own voice, but we have one heart. This unity leads us to integration with Europe and shared success,” he stressed.
Oleksandr Korniienko also expressed special gratitude to the Azerbaijani state, its President, and diaspora organizations for their support. On behalf of ethnic Azerbaijanis, Korniienko was presented with the "Iron Fist" diploma of Azerbaijan, a symbol associated with the Second Karabakh War.
A key moment of the event was the solemn laying of the Garden of Interethnic Harmony at the M.M. Hryshko National Botanical Garden. The garden serves as a living symbol of unity, openness, and coexistence of cultures, uniting the hearts of people from different ethnic backgrounds. Azerbaijani representatives, along with members of various national minorities and indigenous peoples, planted the first trees in this garden.
