Forbes: For an epicurean vacation destination, look no further than Azerbaijan

Baku, February 28, AZERTAC
Forbes has published an article by contributor Stephan Rabimov who highlights Azerbaijan`s tourism potential.
“From authentic Mediterranean tavernas to California`s al fresco hotspots, gastronomy is rapidly becoming one of the top reasons to travel domestically and abroad. For an epicurean vacation destination that has not been overexposed to crowds of hungry tourists, look no further than Azerbaijan,” Rabimov says in his article headlined "Epicurean guide to Azerbaijan".
“This charming country in the Caucasus mountains at the crossroads of Europe and Asia has maintained its discerning traveler appeal for centuries.”
Describing Baku, he says “it is interesting and harmonious to combine ancient elements of architecture with contemporary landmarks”. “In Baku, Azerbaijan`s capital, the walled Medieval city, the UNESCO Heritage site of Palace of the Shirvanshahs, and the iconic Byzantine Maiden Tower coexist with contemporary landmarks such as Heydar Aliyev Cultural Center designed by Zaha Hadid and the skyscraping trio of Flame Towers covered with LED screens that glow against the night skyline.”
Rabimov hailed the Azerbaijani cuisine, saying “it can impress even the most experienced palates with its unique blend of Persian, Eastern European and Middle Eastern flavors”.
Among the traditional Azerbaijani dishes, which deserve the attention of travelers, Stefan Rabimov lists pilafs, tandoor-baked fragrant flatbreads, lavangi chicken and juicy grilled lamb kebabs.
