Prominent members of the Sikh diaspora from the United States, Canada, the European Union, the United Kingdom, and Australia are participating in the conference, as well as individuals who have suffered under Indian government’s repressive and discriminatory policies.
Prior to the conference, Abbas Abbasov, Executive Director of the Baku Initiative Group (BIG), gave an interview to AZERTAC in which he detailed the matters to be discussed, underscoring their relevance in terms of universal human rights and the rights of ethnic and religious minorities.
He further announced that a joint report, presenting the results of research conducted by the Baku Initiative Group (BIG) and Sikh organizations on the issue, will be released this afternoon at the Geneva Press Club.
