GIZ Program Manager: In "smart cities", trust is more important than technical capabilities

“In smart city and digital transition projects, citizen trust in the collected data is as important as long-term financial sustainability and technological infrastructure,” said Lena Weiler, Program Manager for Sector Program Cities at the GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH), during the event titled “Just Transitions in Practice. Co-Creating Digital Tools for Informality and Crisis” held as part of the WUF13.
“Issues such as multi-level governance, technical capabilities, long-term financial sustainability, and future development costs are certainly important. But here, the fundamental point I especially intend to emphasize is trust,” the GIZ Program Manager added.
