Head of the ECB Climate Change Center: We need to get funding to fight climate change

“The fight against climate change is highly relevant to the entire world. Today, we are already facing the consequences of this problem today. We witness the floods in Spain and the threats to the lives of people in small island states,” participant of COP29 and Head of the Climate Change Center of the European Central Bank (ECB) Irene Heemskerk told AZERTAC.
“We must combat the weather-related extreme events and ensure that we adapt to a warmer world. Obtaining financial resources to combat climate change is crucial for us, as it impacts inflation. This creates risks for the financial sector. If we do not make the transition, the losses will be substantial. Thus, we must urgently resolve this matter,” she noted.
