IMPLEMENTATION OF AGGRESSIVE AND ETHNIC CLEANSE POLICY BY A COUNTRY WISHING TO INTEGRATE IN EUROPE INADMISSIBLE
FM of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov met with the delegation of the USA National Military College led by the official of the US Department of State Ms. Tamara Fitzgerald on Monday.
In meeting, discussed were the questions of Azerbaijan-USA relations, cooperation in energy safety, the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict and a number of other regional questions.
Minister Mammadyarov informed on the meetings in Washington during his visit to the United States on invitation of the U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
The Foreign Minister updated on the successful socio-economic reforms conducted in the country, stressing particular significance of the economic relations between the two countries. The Minister also reminded signing of the MOU on co-op in energy field during his visit to the United Sates, which, according to him, is evidence to development of strategic partnership between USA and Azerbaijan.
Ms. Tamara Fitzgerald hailed the developing relations between USA and Azerbaijan, expressing support for quick settlement of regional conflicts.
Touching upon the process of negotiations to settle the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Minister Mammadyarov stressed necessity of settlement of the problem in the framework of international norms and principles, within territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. Noting that 20 percent of the Azerbaijani lands are under occupation of the Armenian Armed Forces, the Minister said implementation of aggressive and ethnic cleanse policy by a country wishing to integrate in Europe is inadmissible.
Integration to the Europe and Eurasia structures is one of the priorities of the country’s foreign policy and it serves national interests of Azerbaijan, the Minister emphasized.
In meeting, a number of other issues also were in the focus.
