In honor of "Victory and Turkish Armed Forces Day", the Military Attachй of the Embassy of Turkey to Azerbaijan Bayan Omar gave an official reception in the "Gulistan" palace, August 30.

The reception was attended by Prime-Minister of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

Welcoming the guests, Military Attachй of the Embassy of Turkey to Azerbaijan, Army General Bayan Omar said the people of Turkey and Turkish Armed Forces gained historical victory under the command of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk on August 30, 1992. "This great victory was an example of invincibility and will of the Turkish nation", he said

Citing Azerbaijan President Heydar Aliyev’s wise words ‘we are one nation, two states’, the Military Attachй said it was a great honor for him to celebrate this historical day in fraternal Azerbaijan and commemorated the shahids who had gave their lives for the territorial integrity of the country.

Addressing the reception participants, Azerbaijan Minister of Defense, General-Colonel Safar Abiyev reminded the words said by President of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev during his speech in General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces in Ankara in 2002: "The Turkish Army has always won the great respect of all in Azerbaijan. Services of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk to the Turkish people are invaluable".

The Minister also touched upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno Garabakh. He highly appreciated Turkey’s stance and efforts in this regard, and stressed Azerbaijani Armed Forces are ready to carry out any Commander-in-Chief's order to clear Azerbaijan lands from Armenian occupants.

Present at the reception were deputy Chairmen of the Milli Majlis, vice-premiers, Chiefs of the Presidential Administration Departments, Milli Majlis members, ministers, foreign Ambassadors and other officials.
