Juventus Corner: Immobile, Sorensen And Pasquato – A Tale Of Contrasts
Baku, April 21 (AZERTAC). Juventus often send young players out on loans to smaller Serie A and lower division clubs in order to gain more match experience. Sometimes these loan deals work wonderfully for the player, like in cases of Giovinco and Marchisio. There are also times when loan deals go horribly wrong and the player ends up getting completely overlooked. This season, three Juventus players who have played in first team in the past - Christian Pasquato, Frederik Sorensen and Ciro Immobile were sent on loans, their performance graphs in respective clubs has been very different, however.
Thanks to Cristian Pasquato`s sparkling performances in the pre-season campaign, this article was published in TheHardTackle discussing if he was ready to be a part of Juventus squad. In the poll following the article the least number of voters chose the option of him going back on loan to Serie B. Ironically, almost a year later, Cristian Pasquato finds himself in a Serie B in a side which doesn`t allow the luxury of fielding him in starting XI.
With the arrival Elia, Giaccherini and Estigarribia, Pasquato was not retained in Juventus but sent on loan to newly promoted Lecce. Eusebio Di Francesco had impressed in Serie B with Pescara and Pasquato was deemed to be an important player for the expansive, attacking football he preferred. Pasquato made an encouraging debut in a 2-0 away win over Bologna in second matchday. His link-up play with David Di Michele was impressive as he was involved in a number of goal scoring moves.
The inexperienced Di Francesco could not prevent Lecce`s steady downward slide as Pasquato failed to get any starts in November.
Till last round Pescara have been one of the most entertaining teams in Serie B. With 66 goals scored in 34 matches, the Delfini are country miles ahead of rest of the pack but their record of conceding 50 goals is also the fourth worst in Serie B. Zeman has been known to groom young attacking players in past. Current Juventus frontman Mirko Vucinic enjoyed his breakthrough season under the same coach in 2004/05 season, scoring 19 goals in 28 matches. Despite being a loathed figure among Juventus faithful, Zdenek Zeman`s proficiency in offensive tactics is one of the best in the peninsula and Ciro Immobile`s transfer seems to be a match made in heaven. Sadly, last weekend when Immobile was part of the Pescara team that took on Livorno, he was on the field witnessing the tragic death of Piermario Morosini.
Despite being the potential topscorer in Serie B Immobile is still not guaranteed a place in Juventus next season. The likes of Vucinic, Quagliarella and Matri are all on long term contracts and Juventus can go for a “top-class” striker in summer. Immobile is currently co-owned with Genoa so he can either go on to play for them or he can remain a part of Pescara should they get promoted. If he keeps his form intact in Serie A then Juventus will surely have a very special player in their hands.
