KAZAN TO HOST “RELIGION AND THE HUMAN RIGHTS” INT’L WORKSHOP
Ombudsperson of the Azerbaijan Republic Elmira Suleymanova will take part at the international seminar on the topic “Religion and Human Rights” forthcoming on 22-23 February in Kazan. The action is to be organized on the initiative of the Ombudsman of the Tataristan Republic and the human rights commissioner of the Council of Europe. Head of numerous religious faiths, known religious figures, theologians of the European countries and representatives of authoritative international organizations will attend the event.
As informed from the Ombudsman Office, at the action will be delivered lectures on religion and human rights, ensuring of the freedom of faith, the role of religious organizations in support of the rights and freedoms and others, conducted discussions.
E. Suleymanova will inform the participants on the work done in the country directed to propaganda of world culture through religion, also will note that the anti-Islam propaganda in mass media over the world, publication of cartoons contradict to the ethic norms, go beyond the moral principles, cause damage spiritual values and inter-confessional relations, sow discord among the believers of the different faiths.
