KHAZAR IBRAHIM: AZERBAIJAN DOES NOT DISCUSS AND WILL NEVER DISCUSS THE ISSUE REGARDING ITS TERRITORIAL INTEGRITY
“Following the Madrid meeting of Foreign Ministers of OSCE member-countries, government officials of Armenia began to carry on a propaganda in an attempt to mislead the local and world community about the main point of peace talks on the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict,” - said press secretary of the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan Khazar Ibrahim, commenting on Armenian Foreign Ministry’s latest statements.
According to the press secretary, it is a clear sign of pre-election hysteria to deceive the population of Armenia, but accurate answer and statement are required to eliminate misunderstanding. The talks are based on the position unambiguously reflecting full restoration of Azerbaijan’s sovereignty over all occupied territories and returning of IDPs who suffered ethnic cleansing committed by Armenia to their lands including the Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan does not discuss and will never discuss the issue regarding its territorial integrity”.
Azerbaijan has always had good intentions to take every opportunity for the peaceful resolution of the conflict. We do not believe that all possibilities for peaceful conflict resolution through diplomatic means have been exhausted.
Continuing its military aggression Armenia pursues its unchanged policy of using force. It is inadmissible. Although, article 51 of the UN charter provides for the right of countries to engage in military action in self-defense, paradoxical situation emerged. The ratio of Armenia’s military expenditures to the GDP (4.3%) is higher in comparison with military spending of the victim of aggression, Azerbaijan (3.8%). Moreover, Armenia fully armed separatists in the Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijan highly assesses the position of the world community, which unambiguously recognizes the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan through resolutions, decisions and statements adopted at the level of states and international organizations. We are fully confident that the propaganda of Armenian officials will signal true intentions of the government of this country.
