Lord Mayor of London praises Novruz celebration and UK-Azerbaijan ties

The historic Mansion House in the City of London, the heart of the UK’s financial district, hosted a spectacular Novruz holiday celebration.
Speaking exclusively to AZERTAC after the event, Alastair King, the Lord Mayor of London, expressed his delight at seeing Novruz holiday officially celebrated in London. He highlighted the importance of strengthening cultural ties between Azerbaijan and the UK, emphasizing London’s role as a hub for international cultures.
Lord Mayor King also spoke about Guavapay, a leading UK fintech company founded by an Azerbaijani entrepreneur, which played a key role in organizing the event. He acknowledged Guavapay’s contribution to fostering business collaboration between London and Baku, stating: “It’s great to see a company like Guavapay, which operates here in London, but uses the city as its international expansion hub. This demonstrates the strong business ties between London and Baku, and I hope to see many other companies follow this path.”
Lord Mayor of London Alastair King further expressed his hope for more Azerbaijani companies to engage in such international collaborations.
Reflecting on his personal connection with the region, he shared: “I visited Azerbaijan when I lived in Central Asia a few years ago. I had a wonderful time there and truly enjoyed my stay.”
