“Cities are not just clusters of buildings, but places of human stories. Urbanization is changing societies at an unprecedented pace, and we must approach this process not only in terms of numbers, but also through the lens of humanity,” said Nga Kor Ming, Minister of Housing and Local Government of Malaysia, and President of UN-Habitat Assembly, at a press conference held as part of the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13).
The minister noted that while cities provide important platforms for economic opportunities, innovation and cultural exchange, they also face housing shortages, climate risks, social inequalities and growing infrastructure needs.
Nga Kor Ming emphasized that platforms such as the World Urban Forum play a pivotal role in sharing experiences between governments and partners and identifying practical solutions suitable for different national and local conditions.
