More than 12 killed, 25 injured in road mishap in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province

Over 12 passengers and pedestrians lost their lives, and 25 others were injured in a tragic road mishap in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Police and rescue officials reported that the incident occurred on the Peshawar-Karachi Indus Highway on Saturday when a trailer lost control due to brake failure, crashing into vehicles and pedestrians.
Rescue officials confirmed that eight people died at the scene, while 25 others sustained injuries. The out-of-control trailer damaged multiple vehicles and overturned onto a passenger coach, causing significant casualties.
Following the accident, rescue teams and police rushed to the site, transferring the dead and injured to the District Headquarters Hospital in Karak. Eight ambulances and recovery vehicles from rescue services participated in the relief efforts.
Police officials stated that victims were retrieved from the passenger coach and other vehicles, with many being transported to local hospitals. Tragically, several injured persons succumbed to their injuries at the hospital, while others remain in critical condition. Among the deceased were pedestrians and passengers. Eyewitnesses described a scene of chaos, with injured individuals crying for help and several people trapped beneath the container. Local residents, police, and rescue teams worked together to assist the victims.
Many of the seriously injured were later transferred to hospitals in Peshawar, the provincial capital. Rescue officials warned that the death toll could rise, as several victims remain in critical condition.
