No project can be realized in the Caspian region without Azerbaijan`s participation, said Alan Waddams, EU special envoy to Azerbaijan.
Speaking about transportation of Caspian oil-gas reserves to Europe through Trans-Caspian and Nabucco pipelines, the EU envoy said as a transit country Azerbaijan is making great contribution to all regional projects.
He stressed that Azerbaijan is playing a key role connected with a proposal on establishment of a new company, which will deal with delivery of Turkmen and Kazakh oil to European markets.
Touching upon Baku Energy Summit, the EU special envoy said it has proved once more how Azerbaijan is important country for Europe.
He said proposals on the East partnership initiative will be submitted to the European Commission on 3 December. He added that Marcus Cornaro, head of the European Commission External Relations and European Neighborhood Policy Directorate, will visit Baku in January 2009 to discuss the issue.
East partnership initiative, proposed by Poland and Sweden, covers strengthening energy security, simplifying visa procedure and development of trade of Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia. Heads of the 27 EU Member States have supported this initiative.
