North Macedonia’s Skopje hosts opening ceremony of 2025 European Youth Olympic Festival

The opening ceremony of the 2025 European Youth Olympic Festival was held in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia.
The event was attended by Gordana Siljanovska Davkova, President of North Macedonia, Spyros Capralos, President of the European Olympic Committees, and other officials.
The ceremony featured a vibrant parade of athletes. Judoka Zeyd Alasgarov and taekwondo fighter Humay Dadashova served as flagbearers for Team Azerbaijan.
The event included the screening of a video about the European Youth Olympic Festival and the performance of North Macedonia’s national anthem.
Opening remarks were delivered by President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova and EOC President Spyros Capralos.
The Festival will run from July 20 to 26 and will be held across three cities - Skopje and Kumanovo in North Macedonia, and Osijek in Croatia.
More than 4,000 athletes from 50 countries are participating, competing in 15 disciplines.
Team Azerbaijan is represented by 52 athletes (28 boys and 24 girls) across 10 sports.
