Northern Cyprus representative: We observed traces of the Ottoman-era approach at WUF13
Baku, May 22, AZERTAC
“The WUF13 serves as a successful global platform, as it explores the future of cities not only from the perspective of architecture and infrastructure, but also through social justice, sustainability, environmental initiatives, digital transformation, and economic resilience. The consideration of the climate crisis, rapid urbanization, and migration is particularly crucial. In this respect, I can say that both the event and its organization have been very successful,” Metin Yılğın, Deputy Chairman (Asbaşkan) of the Cyprus Turkish Blue Homeland Association (Mavi Vatan Derneği), told AZERTAC.
He stressed that the integration of smart city technologies, green transport, and renewable energy will improve quality of life, while better water management and food access in urban planning will boost productivity. Referring to the Ottoman era, he noted that cities once used surrounding production centers and integrated urban and rural areas, adding that traces of this approach can also be seen at WUF13.
Metin Yılğın praised the organization of WUF13 as excellent, noting its well-structured coordination, precise task allocation, effective management, and high-standard transport and hospitality services He expressed gratitude to everyone supporting the event, especially President Ilham Aliyev.
