PACE REPRESENTATIVE TO PREPARE REPORT ON MISSION PERSONS IN SOUTH CAUCASUS COUNTRIES
L. Platvoet said that he is preparing the report on “Missing Persons in Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia” in line with request of member of the Azerbaijani delegation to PACE Gultekin Hajiyeva. He visited Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia in order to collect data.
Rapporteur said that he met here with families of the missing, the Commission set up to deal with the issue of missing persons, Government representatives, parliamentarians, Ombudsman institutions, International Commission of the Red Cross and others.
The report is scheduled to be prepared by autumn this year and then submitted for consideration to PACE winter session. The document will include recommendations to the countries of the region on how to resolve many of the outstanding issues in relation to missing persons.
