Panel session features role of international advocacy and diplomacy in restoring rights of displaced people

A panel session titled "The Role of International Advocacy and Diplomacy" was held during the second international conference, “The Right to Return: Advancing Justice for Azerbaijanis Expelled from Armenia”, organized by the Western Azerbaijan Community in Baku.
Moderated by Javid Valiyev, Head of the Department at the Center for Analysis of International Relations, the session gathered distinguished speakers to discuss the restoration of forcibly displaced Azerbaijanis' rights.
Zafer Sirakaya, Deputy Chairman of Türkiye's Justice and Development Party and member of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, emphasized the significance of ensuring Western Azerbaijanis' return to their homeland, stating it would foster peace and stability in the South Caucasus. He highlighted that Azerbaijan had restored justice by liberating its occupied territories after 30 years, with large-scale reconstruction enabling Azerbaijanis' return to their ancestral lands.
Other notable speakers included Klaus Peter Ralf Jurgens, Director of Economyfirst Limited London; Marat Terterov, Chief Representative of the Brussels Energy Club; Susana Mangana, Professor at Deusto University, Spain; and Krsevan Antun Dujmovic, Lead Expert at Croatia’s Institute for Development and International Relations. They underscored the need to uphold international law and ensure its effective application in addressing displacement issues.
The session also touched upon the successful hosting of COP29 in Baku and its impactful outcomes, aligning the discussion with broader international developments.
