Peace is one of key pillars of women's movement, and it is considered one of the fundamental principles of the women's movement, said Inés Sánchez de Madariaga, UNESCO Chair on Gender, Professor of Urban Planning at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, and Chair of the Advisory Group on Gender Issues to the Executive Director of UN-Habitat, as she addressed the session on “Rebuilding Homes, Rebuilding Futures: Women and Girls Leading Urban Recovery and Peacebuilding,” held as part of the WUF13.
According to her, non-violent conflict resolution methods should be promoted, and refugee women should be provided with special protection and assistance.
Inés Sánchez de Madariaga emphasized the importance of implementing active policies in addressing the challenges faced by women. She noted that increasing women's access to economic opportunities is one of the key factors for improving their situation in the face of conflicts.
