PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV ATTENDS OPENING AFTER RECONSTRUCTION OF MARINE PASSENGER TERMINAL IN BAKU
The President cut the ribbon symbolizing opening of the terminal, and viewed the photo-stand entitled “Yesterday and Present of the Marine Terminal.”
Head of the Caspian Shipping company informed the Head of State that reconstruction of the terminal whose foundation was laid in 1970 at the initiative of the national leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev, began at the expense of the Baku International Sea Trade Port in 2004.
He said the terminal meets modern standards, employ 120 people, and is capable to serve 1200 passengers a day. For now, according to him, ferries take passengers to Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Russia, two of them delivering workers to the Oil Rocks.
The President acquainted himself with a 120-seat diner, 400-seat conference halls, reception-room and other facilities. He gave instructions on necessary improvement work in the area surrounding the terminal, and measures should be taken for effective usage of the capital’s marine gate.
After that, President Ilham Aliyev operated a motor boat to tour the area adjoining National Park, and Bail and Nargin islands.
