PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV RECEIVES MEMBERS OF MEDEF COMMISSION FOR CAUCASUS AND CENTRAL ASIA
The President drew the visitors’ attention to socio-political stability ensured in Azerbaijan, the processes of economic development, and rapid industrial growth in the country. He let them know that Azerbaijan currently leads the world in GDP and industrial production growth, according to the latest report of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
The President added that the country is an important transport corridor connecting Europe and Asia, and that development of the non-oil sector and social sphere is one of the government’s priorities.
On the Azerbaijan-France economic relations, President Ilham Aliyev said they are developing successfully, and described this visit by representatives of France’s leading companies, as a good example of increasing interest in Azerbaijan.
The Head of State especially emphasized that investment climate for foreign businessmen and companies, is very favorable in Azerbaijan, noting the country is one of the leaders in per capita foreign investments.
He pointed out that, a number of infrastructure projects is being implemented in Azerbaijan with use of its own resources, adding that establishment of the State Investment Company will open extra opportunities to attract more foreign investments.
The President said that Azerbaijan is an initiator and participant in the global energy projects, which are being successfully implemented here.
He noted that the state budget grew four-fold over the past three years.
The Azerbaijani leader said that great efforts are being made in Azerbaijan to equip its industrial sector with new technologies.
Members of the delegation pointed to successful activities of the French companies in energy, finance, agriculture and other sectors in Azerbaijan, and highly appreciated the conditions created here for foreign businessmen.
They spoke of the concrete projects aiming to enhance bilateral economic cooperation.
President Ilham Aliyev gave detailed answers to the questions asked by the members of the French delegation.
