Samad Seyidov: "We won the war, yet a diplomatic war was declared against us"
Baku, October 10, AZERTAC
" Look at how much the values declared by PACE have degraded to the point where there is no party or state with which they genuinely want to engage as one must only follow the orders. To achieve this, they disregard their own established laws and organize hearings,” Samad Seyidov, Chairman of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis Committee for International Relations and Interparliamentary Ties, told AZERTAC regarding the hearings on Azerbaijan in PACE without Azerbaijan's participation. According to him, the failure to draft a report on Azerbaijan or to appoint a special rapporteur shows that "they are essentially disgracing themselves."
“They have prepared such disgraceful documents and taken such steps that they could neither write the report nor appoint a rapporteur. Despite there being more than 600 members in the assembly, only 12 people signed up to speak on Azerbaijan. This, in itself, is an embarrassing issue. They themselves clearly understand that they must fulfil orders. But something unexpected happened. Many PACE deputies began to speak in favor of Azerbaijan,” Seyidov stated.
The Chairman of the Committee stressed that these hearings were organized against Azerbaijan because the country had already renounced the Western policy of double standards by liberating its lands from occupation. Azerbaijan clearly stated its position, correctly analysed the issues and ended the occupation, and in fact foiled their plans: “Without asking them, without consulting with them, guided by the will and desire of our people, thinking of national interests, and determining our stance within the system of international relations, Azerbaijan liberated its lands from occupation. This is what upsets them. They think they rule the world, considering that you have no right to interfere in the world they rule. We will govern by calling white black, applying double standards, pursuing colonial policies, exerting pressure, and supporting whomever we choose However, they forget that we won the war, yet a diplomatic war was declared against us."
Samad Seyidov underscored that the Azerbaijani people`s desire is to see the country among the most developed countries: "The policies we are pursuing in this direction allow for that. No matter how hard they try, they will not be able to monopolize world opinion. Because they are not capable of changing the minds of the world."
