Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov met with the visiting Chairman-in-Office of the OSCE, Belgium Foreign Minister Karel De Gucht, January 25.

Having thanked Minister Mammadyarov for a warm welcome, Minister De Gucht spoke about his intention to visit the region of South Caucasus again in the future.

The two sides discussed, comprehensively and in detail, development of the internationally mediated talks aimed at peaceful settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict.

At the request of the visiting OSCE Chairman-in-Office, FM Mammadyarov informed about the January 18-19 meeting in London between himself and Foreign Minister Oskanian of Armenia, explained the position of the Republic of Azerbaijan on a number of issues discussed there, re-asserting the Government’s being committed to the resolution based on the norms and principles of international law and in accordance with the Constitution of Azerbaijan.

Ministers Mammadyarov and De Gucht agreed to continue the working contacts in the future.

After the meeting, Mr. Karel de Gucht briefed for local and foreign media representatives.
