TBILISI HOSTS 7th GEORGIAN INTERNATIONAL OIL, GAS, ENERGY AND INFRASTRUCTURE CONFERENCE AND SHOWCASE
The 7th Georgian International Oil, Gas, Energy and Infrastructure Conference and Showcase “GIOGIE 2008” was held Wednesday in Tbilisi, Georgia.
The Conference brought together 250 delegates from 15 countries.
The Azerbaijani delegation led by SOCAR Vice President Elshad Nasirov is also attending the conference.
Addressing the event, Georgian Minister of Energy Alexander Khetaguri said the conference topics will include issues concerning transportation of Caspian oil and gas to the European Market via Georgian territory, oil and gas extraction and energy problems.
The Conference will also focus on issues concerning strategic development of the Georgian energy sector, international cooperation, regional energy security, development of electricity transmission and distribution infrastructure, opportunities for foreign investment in Georgia`s energy industry, rehabilitation and construction of hydropower plants.
The conference is aimed at expanding of cooperation in this field and establishing business relations.
Speaking at the conference, Zurab Janjgava, General Director of the Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation (GOGC), said his country intents to propose new projects on transit of gas and oil, adding that they have interesting projects for realization.
The dialogue between representatives of the Georgian government and heads of the leading world oil and gas Companies will be held under the forum.
Heads of relevant Ministries, Oil and Gas Companies, as well as representatives of the International organizations take part at the forum.
The conference will end April 4.
