Terrorists attack passenger train in Pakistan; security forces safely rescue 80 hostages

Islamabad, Hilal Ahmad, March 11, AZERTAC
In Pakistan, terrorists opened fire on a Quetta-to-Peshawar passenger train, critically injuring the driver. According to initial reports, the attack occurred in the Bolan region of Balochistan province on Tuesday.
The Jaffar Express, with over 400 passengers on board, was en route from Quetta to Peshawar in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province when terrorists opened fire. Security forces quickly cordoned off the area following the attack.
According to security sources, terrorists held innocent passengers, including women and children, hostage after stopping the train in a tunnel. Despite the location being in a far-flung area and quite distant from the road, security forces cordoned off the entire area and launched a clearance operation.
As per the latest reports, security forces have safely rescued 80 hostages from the terrorists. The rescued passengers include 43 men, 26 women, and 11 children. Sources stated that the operation to safely recover the remaining hostages is underway, with security forces tightening the siege around the terrorists.
Significant progress is expected, and security forces are determined to continue the operation until all terrorists are eliminated. According to security officials, the terrorists have been significantly weakened in this operation, and further steps are being taken to clear the area. The public has been urged not to listen to rumors and to cooperate with security agencies.
According to Pakistan Railway officials, the Jaffar Express consisted of nine bogies. Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind confirmed reports of heavy firing on the train. A relief train and contingents of security forces were dispatched to the site. Security sources added that the terrorists are in contact with their overseas facilitators.
