THERE IS NO COMPETITION BETWEEN BAKU AND MOSCOW IN DELIVERING GAS TO EUROPE, ELMAR MAMMADYAROV
There is no competition between Baku and Moscow in delivering gas to Europe, visiting Washington Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said in an interview with a correspondent of the Information Telegraph Agency of Russia, ITAR-TASS, following his speech at the Central Asia-Caucasus Institute of the Johns Hopkins University.
Elmar Mammadyarov said “we are not competitors for Gazprom in principle”.
“Gazprom plans to export 170-190 billion cubic meters of gas per year, and what we have is 8-16 billion cubic meters. These figures cannot be compared. How can we compete with Gazprom?» the Azerbaijani Minister continued.
Mr. Mammadyarov said this issue should not be given a political shade, as “this is just a commercial issue”.
On the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline project, the Minister said it is about to be soon realized.
