To bring to criminal responsibility one for his opinion not the US standards, Hillary Clinton
Baku, January 27 (AZERTAC). The United States is not going to follow France and discuss the events once happened in the Ottoman Empire in 1915, Hillary Clinton, the US Secretary of State said.
In regard with the bill adopted by the French Senate on criminalization of negation of the so-called “Armenian genocide”, the US Secretary of States stated: “To make political polemics from historical themes is not right. France is an alliance of the USA. Despite this, we don`t restrict as France the freedom of speech and expression. The people may express freely. To bring to criminal responsibility one for his opinion is not the US standards. If the executive power exerts pressure on the legislative power to discuss the historical disputable question and adopt a bill it will lead to dangerous results”.
According to the Secretary of State, the historical events should be investigated by historians.
