UK official: “We were really happy that an agreement came out of COP”

“We were really happy that an agreement came out of COP, and huge congratulations to the Azerbaijani Presidency for achieving that,” said Sophie Westlake, Deputy Director of the joint International Energy Unit in the UK Foreign Office and Department for Energy Security and Net-Zero, during the “Caspian Energy Security and Post-COP29” conference in London on Thursday.
Describing her participation at COP29 as a positive experience, Westlake added: “It was actually my third trip to Baku this year, showing the significant level of engagement. There are plenty of interesting themes to take forward into new events in the coming year.”
