On September 23, Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, paying an official visit to New York, made a speech at the opening of general debates of the 58th session of the UN General Assembly.

Secretary General of the UN Organization Kofi Annan, President of the United States of America George Bush, President of France Jacques Chirac and others made speeches at the opening.

After the opening, the UN Secretary General Kofi Annan gave an official reception in honor of the delegation heads in the headquarters of this organization. Prime Minister Ilham Aliyev was present at this reception.
