WUF13: Discussions held on "United for Change Translating Africas Urban Position into Transformative Actions"
Baku, May 22, AZERTAC
On May 22, an event titled "United for Change Translating Africas Urban Position into Transformative Actions" was held in Baku as part of the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13). The event was organized by UNECA (United Nations Economic Commission for Africa).
By bringing together national and local governments, regional institutions, development partners, civil society, academia, and the private sector, the event promoted dialogue, experience sharing, and collaboration around integrated approaches to sustainable urbanization.
It was noted during the presentations that urbanization in Africa is no longer a distant trend, but an accelerating reality of the present day. The speakers also pointed out that resilience encompasses not only infrastructure but also local governance. Within this framework, a deep analysis must be conducted on technical aspects and how sustainable urban spaces can be integrated into this process.
The event then continued with further discussions on the topic.
