Baku, May 22, AZERTAC
The final day of the 13th Session of the UN World Urban Forum (WUF13) saw discussions on the localization of the Global Digital Compact at the city level.
The session organized by the United Nations Office for Digital and Emerging Technologies (UNODET), brought together representatives of the UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), urban experts, global partners, and international specialists.
The session featured an exchange of views on topics such as housing policy, service delivery, inclusion, and sustainability. Concrete city experiences and governance approaches that translate global commitments into local, human-centered digital strategies were presented.
The main objectives of the session were to build a bridge between global and local action by demonstrating how the principles and commitments of the Global Digital Compact can be interpreted and applied at the city level, to present urban examples of closing the digital divide, delivering inclusive services, and advancing human-centered digital transformation, to strengthen mutual learning and cooperation among cities and partners through experience sharing and applicable approaches, and to position cities as key actors in shaping a safe, inclusive, and sustainable digital future in line with the New Urban Agenda.
