London hosts “Heydar Aliyev Cup – 2013” international mini-football tournament
London, 22 April (AZERTAC). The “Heydar Aliyev Cup - 2013” international mini-football tournament organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sport of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani Youth Union of Russia, and “OdlarYurdu” Organization has been held in London. Supported by Azerbaijan`s Embassy in UK, the tournament was dedicated to the 90th anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev.
Various international amateur teams competed in the London qualifications in a bid to book a spot in the “Grand Final” which will be held in Baku on May 5. Bosnia and Herzegovina won the London tournament.
Addressing a prize giving ceremony, Azerbaijan`s ambassador to the UK Fakhraddin Gurbanov stressed the importance of ceremonies dedicated to the 90th anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev around the world. The Ambassador noted that the tournament proved the tolerance culture of Azerbaijan. At the end of his speech, the ambassador congratulated the teams.
Then, Bosnia and Herzegovina and participating teams were presented with the Heydar Aliyev cup, promotional gifts and medals of the tournament by ambassador Fakhraddin Gurbanov and Chairman of the “OdlarYurdu” organization Ilham Naghiyev.
The “Heydar Aliyev Cup - 2013” is being held in eight countries. In May, the eight winner teams of the competitions will come to Baku to compete in the “Grand Final” of the Heydar Aliyev Cup.
