36.81% of Azerbaijani voters have cast ballots as of 12.00, Central Election Commission says
Baku, October 9 (AZERTAC). The Central Election Commission has announced the voter turnout as of 12.00 saying 1,894,050 people have already cast their ballots, which makes up 36.81% of the total number of eligible voters across the country.
At a press conference held at the Seckiler Information Center, chief of the CEC`s information center Rufat Gulmammadov said that the top three election districts with the highest turnout include Khazar constituency No14 (44.83%), Khazar-Pirallahi constituency No13 (43.70%), and Zagatala election constituency No110 (43.36%).
The presidential election is conducted in 5,492 polling stations of 125 constituencies. Some 5,273 of them are permanent, while 219 stations have opened at the Azerbaijani embassies, consulates and permanent missions in foreign countries, whereas others at military units, correctional facilities and sanatoriums, the ships sailing in the Caspian Sea and international waters under the flag of Azerbaijan. The number of eligible voters in Azerbaijan is 5,145,643. Some 5,145, 255 ballots have been handed over to the polling stations. Web cameras have been set up in 1,000 polling stations (20%) to ensure the transparency of the voting. The voting process in the polling stations can also be followed through the web cameras on the website of the Central Election Commission.
A total of 1,400 international observers are monitoring the election, which is covered by nearly 100 foreign media outlets.
The voting will end at 19:00.
