Baku hosts international conference on enhancing cooperation in addressing the issue of missing persons VIDEO

An international conference titled “Enhancing Cooperation and Advancing Modern Approaches in Addressing the Issue of Missing Persons” was held at Gulustan Palace in Baku on June 30.
The conference, organized by Azerbaijan’s State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages, and Missing Persons in cooperation with the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP), was moderated by Gazanfar Ahmadov, Secretary of the State Commission.
The conference began with the performance of the National Anthem of Azerbaijan and the observance of a minute of silence in memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country’s independence and territorial integrity.
Addressing the event, Sharafat Hasanov, Deputy Chief of the State Security Service, noted that contacts between the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP) and the State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages, and Missing Persons had been established before the Second Garabagh War, and that these contacts had subsequently developed into cooperation.
The event then featured a presentation on the activities of the State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages, and Missing Persons.
Kathryne Bomberger, Director-General of the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP), highlighted the support provided to Azerbaijan.
Other speakers included Arzu Naghiyev, Chairman of the Defense, Security and Combating Corruption Committee of the Milli Majlis; Elnur Mammadov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and a member of the State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages, and Missing Persons; and Zahid Oruj, Chairman of the Human Rights Committee of the Milli Majlis.
