Multiple machines beat human records at second World Humanoid Robot Games VIDEO

The second World Humanoid Robot Games opened in Beijing on Saturday evening, with 2,056 robots from 666 teams representing 16 countries, set to compete in 51 events through Wednesday, according to China Daily.
In the first three days, robots broke multiple world records set by humans. A Chinese humanoid robot ran 100 meters in 9.39 seconds in a preliminary heat, beating the human record of 9.58 seconds set by Jamaican sprinting great Usain Bolt in 2009.
The result was a sharp improvement over the inaugural games last year, when robot Tiangong Ultra won the 100-meter race in 21.50 seconds.
In a standing high jump, another robot cleared 2.88 meters, surpassing the human record of 2.45 meters set by Cuba's Javier Sotomayor in 1993, along with the 0.95-meter jump that was the best result in last year's games.
The robot went on to claim the games' first gold medal on Sunday, winning the 400-meter final for large robots in 38.15 seconds, outpacing the human men's world record of 43.03 seconds.
In the men's 1500-meter final, 35 robots competed in seven heats. The top three finished in 2 minutes 21.63 seconds, 2 minutes 30.00 seconds, and 2 minutes 30.22 seconds. All three finishers posted times faster than the men's 1500-meter world record of 3 minutes 26.00 seconds set by human athletes.
