Leaving the city’s hustle and bustle behind, visitors entering the park are greeted by dense greenery, towering plane trees, and a tranquil atmosphere. A short walk further reveals that Khan Baghi is not merely a place for recreation, but also a site where traces of Ganja’s rich past have been preserved.
Dating back to the 18th century, Khan Baghi was once a retreat for the khans of Ganja and later became an important recreational and cultural site. Known by different names throughout history, it remains one of the city’s most popular destinations for residents and visitors.
One of the main features that catches the eye while walking through the park is the remains of the ancient Ganja fortress. Once vital to the city’s defense, these historic traces reflect the unique blend of nature and history found in Khan Baghi, offering visitors a glimpse into Ganja’s past.
Another distinctive feature of Khan Baghi is its lush greenery. The old plane trees preserved in the park add a unique character to its landscape. The shade provided by the trees on hot summer days, the colorful foliage in autumn, and the revival of nature in spring create a different atmosphere in Khan Baghi throughout the year.
A walk through the park also offers glimpses into the city’s cultural life. The Green Theatre and various monuments located within the park demonstrate that Khan Baghi is not only a recreational area, but also an important part of Ganja’s social and cultural life.
