4, 834,584 PEOPLE HAVE RIGHT TO VOTE IN AZERBAIJAN, CHAIRMAN OF CENTRAL ELECTION COMMISSION
The precinct and constituency election commissions have compiled the list of voters for 2008 Presidential election, Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Azerbaijan Republic Mazahir Panahov said at today’s press-conference.
Today, there are 4,834,584 people having the right to vote in Azerbaijan, of whom 52% are women, 48% - men. 1,864,121 voters are aged 19-36; 2,020,925 aged 35-55; 894,000 -over 50 years old, while the remaining people have just turned 18, said CEC Chairman.
Mr. Panahov underlined that CEC would again specify these figures and return the list to the constituency election commissions. It is not inconceivable that these figures may be changed within a year, said CEC Chairman. All constituency election commissions of the country will be provided with the administrative buildings and up-to-date equipment. Since January 2008, salary of the chairmen and employees of the constituency election commissions has been doubled, added Mazahir Panahov.
