Head of International Cooperation at Jordan Anti-Corruption Commission Khalood Aloran has praised Azerbaijan`s contribution to international anti-corruption activities.

“Azerbaijan is an active participant of the international fight against corruption and is making a considerable contribution to the work of the International Anti-Corruption Academy,” she told AZERTAC`s special correspondent.

Ms Aloran, who attended the 3rd session of the Assembly of Parties of the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA) in Baku last November, said the organization of the event in Azerbaijan`s capital was a strong signal of the country`s growing reputation in the world. “This also proves that international organizations approve of the anti-corruption measures taken by Azerbaijan,” she said.

Ms Aloran praised the organization of the IACA event in Baku as “excellent”, saying it was attended by representatives of more than 40 countries and international organizations. “We heard Azerbaijan`s report on what is the country doing to combat corruption. And it is obvious that the leadership of the country attaches great importance to the fight against corruption and Azerbaijan is actively cooperating with all international anti-corruption organizations and commissions, particularly IACA.”

“Upon my return to Jordan I submitted a detailed report to president of the Jordan Anti-Corruption Commission Samih Bino, in which I underline the necessity of studying Azerbaijan`s expertise that can benefit our country too.” “I made sure about this when we visited the main anti-corruption office in Azerbaijan, where we familiarized ourselves with the mechanisms of your country`s anti-corruption policy.”

Ms Aloran praised e-governance system in Azerbaijan, saying there was perfect electronic communication among all government bodies.

She also shared her impressions about Baku, hailing Azerbaijan`s development under President Ilham Aliyev. “It was my first visit to Azerbaijan. Frankly speaking, I thought that it is an underdeveloped country. But I was greatly surprised by the progress I saw in your country. I have been to many European countries, and in Azerbaijan I felt myself as in a European country in every sense of the word. Azerbaijan is a very beautiful, developed, civilized country with unique architecture and charm. Although it is a Muslim country, Azerbaijan is also a modern and secular state, which also combines European values,” said Ms Aloran.
