ANAMA, International Organization for Migration ink cooperation agreement
Baku, January 25 (AZERTAC). The Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) and the International Organization for Migration have today clinched a deal on cooperation.
The deal will help coordination of mine actions and envisage cooperation on local and international level.
Addressing the ceremony, ANAMA director Nazim Ismayilov and representative of the International Organization of Migration (IOM) in Baku Serhan Aktorpak spoke of the importance of the agreement and future plans.
“ANAMA and IOM have been cooperating since 2007 in rendering assistance to survivors of landmine accidents.
The two organizations have effectively implemented “Socio-Economic Reintegration Program for Mine Victims in Azerbaijan” covering 2007-2012s.
The program was funded by Austrian Development Agency (ADA), the International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victims Assistance, governments of Slovenia and Korea, as well as Rotary Club of Baku International.
As part of the above mentioned program, 190 landmine victims were trained on business and management skills. Some 140 of those were provided with microcredit to enlarge their businesses and expand their activities.”
The event featured demonstration of films and photos reflecting cooperation between the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) and the International Organization for Migration in the assistance to survivors of landmine accidents.
The Polish government donated an ambulance with special medical equipment to ANAMA.
