AZERTAC BECOMES OANA EXECUTIVE BOARD MEMBER
The 30th Executive Board Meeting of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies will be held in Baku in late August - early September 2008. This decision was made at the 13th OANA General Assembly in Jakarta.
AZERTAC has been unanimously elected today a member of the OANA Executive Board at the General Assembly attended by heads of news agencies from 40 countries of the Asia-Pacific region. Ahmad Mukhlis Yusuf, Chief Executive Officer of Antara (Indonesia`s National News Agency), replaced Datuka Azmana Ujanga, President of the Bernama (Malaysian National News Agency) as OANA President. Participants decided to hold the 14th OANA General Assembly in 2010 in Turkey and 15th one in 2013 in Moscow.
During the OANA Executive Board meeting on December 12, OANA President Ahmad Mukhlis Yusuf congratulated AZERTAC Director General Aslan Aslanov over AZERTAC’s election as a member of the Executive Board. The meeting discussed improvement of OANA website, expansion of news exchange among news agencies from OANA member countries.
Antara and AZERTAC are expected to sign a memorandum on cooperation at the solemn ceremony to mark the Antara’s 70th anniversary on Thursday in Jakarta.
