Azerbaijan, Turkey sign protocol to strengthen ties in labor and social protection fields

The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Labour and Social Security of the Republic of Turkey have signed a protocol which aims to strengthen mutual cooperation in the fields of labor and social protection.
The document was signed by Azerbaijan`s Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Population Salim Muslumov and Turkish Minister of Labour and Social Security Julide Sarieroglu.
Prior to the signing ceremony, the ninth meeting of the Joint Permanent Commission for Labor and Social Protection was held in Baku.
Salim Muslumov said that the protocol envisages the expansion of cooperation and the exchange of experience in labor market regulation.
“Moreover, it envisages the expansion of cooperation as part of mutual granting of work permits. We are also going to take advantage of Turkey's experience with the transition from the informal to the formal labor market and a number of other issues.”
Sarieroglu said the agreement would focus on labor market training for the unemployed in both countries as well as sharing experiences in the creation of electronic statistical infrastructure.
“We will improve the business partnership, especially in the construction sector in terms of occupational health and safety,” said the minister, adding that steps will also be taken to fighting the informal economy, and to sharing projects related to women, the young and people with disabilities.
