Azerbaijan`s Energy Minister: Azerbaijan considers Ukraine`s proposals for swap gas supplies
Baku, April 5 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan considers Ukraine`s proposals for swap gas supplies, the Minister of Industry and Energy Natig Aliyev said.
Natig Aliyev has stated that during his Baku visit Energy and Coal Industry Minister Eduard Stavitskiy of Ukraine suggested consideration of the possibility of swap supplies of Azeri gas to Ukraine with participation of Russia.
"According to the scheme presented, Azerbaijan could supply to Russia an agreed volume of gas, and Russia, in turn, would transfer an equal volume of its gas to Ukraine, after which Ukraine would pay to Azerbaijan on this scheme the volumes of gas received. This offer may be interesting but should be agreed. Besides, we should solve some technical matters related to payment of transport services, participation of several companies in the project, technical capabilities of SWAP natural gas," the minister said.
According to Natig Aliyev, in view of these factors it will be difficult to organize swap supplies of Azeri gas already in 2014.
