Cyclist Mugerli second in Qinghai Lake

Baku, July 21, AZERTAC

Azerbaijan’s Synergy Baku Cycling Project’s cyclist Matej Mugerli finished second on the fourth stage of the Tour of Qinghai Lake.

The rider narrowly missed the win in the bunch sprint.

The stage ran 147 km from Guide to Qinghai Lake and had one climb of 27 km in the first third of the stage.

“The stage was very hard. We had to go from 2300 m to 3800, and there was still 100 km to go,” Mugerli said. “Samir Jabrayilov and Elchin Asadov went in a breakaway from the first km. We caught them again on the climb.”

“In the finale there were 40 to 50 riders going for the sprint. I was very close to getting the stage win, but second is good, too.”
