FEDERAL CHANCELLOR SCHROEDER, PRESIDENT CHIRAK AND PREMIER ERDOGAN MEET IN BERLIN
On 26 October, Federal Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder and President of France Jacques Chirak who hold the fourth sitting of the German-French inter-governmental joint council of ministers met Premier of Turkey Mr. Rejep Tayyip Erdogan, now staying in Berlin with a working visit, correspondent of AzerTAj said. During the tripartite meeting held in residence of Federal Chancellor, were exchanged views on prospects of admission of Turkey to European Union.
Chancellor Schroeder and President Chirak underlined that they give high value to the steps undertaken by Turkey for admission to the European Union, realization of democratic reforms, stating that both states would make every effort to assist friendly Turkey for admission to EU membership.
On completion of consultations, with participation of three sides, it was signed an agreement on sale to the “Turkiye Hava Yollari” Company 36 airbuses. Congratulating the premier of Turkey, Mr. Gerhard Schroeder and Jacques Chirak have underscored that signing of agreement on sale of aircrafts is one of the factors setting ground for admission of Turkey to the European Union.
